The 16th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Urological Association was held in Chengdu recently Professor Huang Jian from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, SYSU, got the Annual Golden Cystoscopy Award for 2009, the highest honor for Urological minimally invasive technique in China.

Professor Huang is a member of the standing committee and deputy director of the minimally invasive studies team of the Urological Association, Chinese Medical Association, director of the Urology Department in Guangdong Province, and vice president of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital. He was the first in China to perform the laparoscopic radical cystectomy with orthotopic ileal neobladder surgery and extraperitoneal radical prostatectomy surgery in 2002, and has taken the lead in the quantity and the rate of success in performing demanding surgeries ever since. His serial studies have won him the 2004 Guangdong Province Scientific and Technological Progress Award and the first prize of Scientific and Technological Progress granted by the Ministry of Education, and has also won the support of many research projects, such as the special fund project of the state-level hygienic public-profit scientific research, and the clinical key project approved by the Ministry of Health.
