On December 19, the meeting for the launching of “Pathogenesis and Prevention & Control Research of China Important Food-borne Parasitic Diseases”, part of the national “973 Project” with Professor Yu Xinbing as the chief scientist, took place on the North Campus. Vice President Li Mengfeng and Xu Anlong were present at the meeting, remarked that the university is strongly in support of the project. Zhang Yongjun, Head of Planning Office of Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Doctor Ming Mei, Doctor Zhu Qingping from Management Center of Basic Research of Office of Science and Technology, Liang Dan, Director of Office of Medical Science, SYSU, as well as project members attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Professor Yu Xinbing gave an account of the research content and plan of the project and demonstrated his confidence and resolution to do a successful project. People in charge of various research subjects stated research plans and expected goals of their subjects respectively. Director Zhang Yongjun and Doctor Zhu Qingping transmitted the related document spirit and showed their willingness to vigoriously support the research project. Leaders and experts at the meeting hoped that all subject teams could communicate and coordinate with each other and learn the development trend of relevant research field in foreign countries so as to thoroughly solve scientific problems.
