Karolinska Institute is the largest medical university in Sweden; it is also the Nobel Committee for choosing Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine. Since its 200th anniversary coincides with this year’s Nobel Prize, Karolinska Institute decides to award silver medals to those who have made contribution to the development of the institute. Academician Zeng Yixin of SYSU was awarded the Silver Jubilee Medal.

On the morning of October the 5th, the prize that was in appreciation of Academician Zeng Yixin’s contribution in the communication of Sino-Sweden was awarded by the KI president Harriet Wallberg-Henriksson at the KI-China Symposium. The Minister of the Ministry of Public Health Chen Zhu, Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Chen Mingming and the guests of the KI-China Symposium attended the Awards Presentation.

There are three kinds of memorial medals: the gold, the silver Jubilee and the silver. These medals are used to award those who have made contributions to Karolinska Institute in its 200 year’s development. The first gold medal was awarded to Gustav III of Sweden.

Karolinska Institute values the medical communication between Sweden and China. In 2003, the institute signed the cooperation agreement to carry out joint training program. A lab was also set up in Cancer Center of SYSU. Academician Zeng Yixin was appointed as foreign professor of the institute in 2006 during the 3rd KI-China Symposium in Guangzhou.
