On February 27, 2015, the Guangdong Science and Technology Innovation Conference was held in Shenzhen. Hu Chunhua, Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, and Zhu Xiaodan, Governor of Guangdong Province, attended the conference and presented awards to the winners of 2014 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award.

Eleven research achievements of Sun Yat-sen University received the 2014 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award, including 4 first prizes, 1 second prize, and 6 third prizes. Four research teams, respectively led by Professor Wang Shenming from The First Affiliated Hospital, Professor Song Erwei from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Professor Ma Jun from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, and Associate Professor Xu Yue from Hospital of Stomatology, won first prizes.

It is reported that in 2014 a total of 249 research results won Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award, including 2 grand prizes, 30 first prizes, 65 second prizes, and 152 third prizes.
