At SYSU, an increasing number of students are planning to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), students are seem on the campus holding hard back GRE vocabulary books. "Do you have your G ?" becomes a popular phrase on campus nowadays .

The GRE General Test is a gateway to graduate schools and an essential early step along one’s career path. Graduate and business schools use GRE test scores to evaluate students’ readiness for graduate level work. Each year, more than 600,000 prospective applicants from approximately 230 countries will take the GRE General Test. Applicants come from various educational backgrounds and countries, and the GRE General Test provides the only common measure for comparing their qualifications.

A servey shows that, there are no less than 56 people preparing or already in the test GRE in a class of 50 people . Some students want to study abroad immediately after graduation, but more people do not have the strong desire to go abroad, they only want to increase the success rate of seeking jobs with one more advantage than others.

With the reform and opening up, more and more students go study abroad , foreign qualifications are no longer scarce commodities ,and increasing employment pressure put more students to study abroad eventually to get a good job.
