Running Test is in Full Swing

A series of physical tests has started this week, mainly including an 800-meter or 1000-meter running and a one-minute sitting-up or pushing-up, for girls or boys respectively. In the following two to three weeks, both freshmen and sophomores will gradually take these tests on their P.E classes.

It’s a rare chance for us to have the long-distance running test on a summer seminar, as we usually did during a winter season. For some students, it’s a better time for running, when one can wear lighter suits and the muscle seems to be more relaxed in a hot weather. But other students feel it too hot to do such an exercise and that one may easily get heatstroke. As I saw this Tuesday afternoon on the track field, about five classes of students were taking the running test at that time, none of them passed out due to the sunshine and high temperature, but many went extremely pale as they finished the running, especially girls. The result of the test also remained as much as that of a winter seminar.

Long-distance running test is a traditional practice of our university, holding once a year for freshmen and sophomores. Now our university is taking some new measures to improve our physical qualities. A swimming test, a registered extracurricular activity, and more campus sports events have taken place since the beginning of this school year, and a new P.E system is under modification.
