Christian Staehelin, Professor at the School of Life Sciences of Sun Yat-sen University, has received the prestigious Friendship Award from the Chinese Government. The Friendship Award is the highest honor that can be granted to a foreign expert. Awardees are chosen for their significant contributions to China’s modernization. Staehelin received the award on September 30 from Vice Premier Liu He at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Premier Li Keqiang expressed warm congratulations to the awardees. Staehelin lives and works at Sun Yat-sen University since 2005. The students in his laboratory perform research work on plant-microbe interactions.
