Article Resource: The Alumni Association

On the afternoon of April 1st, invited by Secretary General Xu Dongli of Alumni Association of SYSU, Director Chen Meiyue from the Office of University Development and Funding, Nangyang Technological University of Singapore visited Sun Yat-sen University. Director Chen has exchanged ideas with officers from the Alumni Association and leaders, secretaries from relevant departments in charge of alumni work of several schools on many issues, such as how to develop alumni’s bonds of affection towards their Alma Mater and how to integrate the bonds into university’s cultural tradition.

During the meeting, Director Chen Meiyue introduced how Nangyang Technological University of Singapore managed to start from scratch through building conceptions such as “We are connected as a whole” and “To support the development of Alma Mater is one way to invest one’s future” among students and alumni as well as encouraging alumni to sustain university in various ways while integrating these conceptions into the cultural tradition of the university. She also listened to the reports about the current situation and the development of alumni work in Chinese universities. Finally, she shared with us the developing strategy for Nangyang Technological University in 2015. The whole meeting was carried on almost entirely in English which marked as a bold attempt in the history of alumni work conferences of our university. Such kind of attempt also greatly promoted the internalization of officers in Alumni Association.
  After this fruitful meeting, the participants all felt inspiring and got new insights for their work. Meanwhile, the exchange with universities in Singapore also showed our innovation programs and degree of internalization in the alumni work.
