Recently, the Conference on Promoting the Construction of Guangdong as a Strong Province in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was held in Zhudao Guest House by Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Guangdong Provincial Government. The decision to confer honors to Guangdong famous TCM doctors, advanced units and individuals that have contributed to the construction of Guangdong as a strong province in TCM was announced during the conference. ZHANG Bei, Director of the Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center was awarded the title of “Guangdong Famous TCM Doctor”.

As an academic foregoer in the field of treatment and prevention of tumor by TCM and the integration of TCM and Western medicine in Guangdong Province, Director Zhang Bei is an expert in TCM treatment, integrated Chinese and Western medicine therapy and tongue diagnosis of various kinds of tumor. She is well received by patients from home and abroad for her rich clinical experience and good clinical outcomes. She has won Specialist Outpatient Service Award (ranked No.1) and the Outstanding Patient Contribution Award of SYSU Cancer Center for years. The medical teams led by her in the Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine has fulfilled many important medical care tasks, and gained approval and praise from Office of Central Health Care Committee and Office of Guangdong Health Care Committee.

At the conference, Zhang Bei went up the stage to receive the award of Guangdong Famous TCM Doctor as one of the ten representatives. Wang Yang, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, and Zhu Xiaodan, Governor of Guangdong Province, presented the award to Zhang Bei.
Accepting the honor, Zhang Bei said it is an acknowledgment for her nearly 30 years of work in TCM and also a piece of good luck, which is cheering. Meanwhile, she would rather take it as an impetus, an encouragement and a responsibility.
