In order to further develop the translational medicine at Sun Yat-sen University, enhance the scientific research strength, and promote international exchange and cooperation, the Guangdong International Forum in Translational Medicine hosted by SYSU was held in the Swasey Hall on South Campus on the morning of October 20th. Distinguished Swedish and American scholars in the field of immunology and senior editors of top international academic journals were invited to attend the forum.

President Xu Ningsheng and Vice President Xu Anlong met with guests of the forum in the VIP Lounge of the K.K. Leung Hall. Xie Xuening, Director of Guangzhou Bureau of Science and Information Technology, and Wang Yuexi, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Bureau of Science and Information Technology, also attended the meeting.
President Xu Ningsheng extended a warm welcome to the guests of the forum, introduced the general situation of SYSU, and expressed the hope to promote international exchange and cooperation by introducing advanced science and technology as well as talents.
At the forum, Lars Klareskog, Professor of Rheumatology at Karolinska Institutet, Vijay Kuchroo, Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, David Hafler, Professor of Neurology at the Yale School of Medicine, and Sankar Ghosh, Professor of Microbiology & Immunology at Columbia University respectively gave wonderful lectures on their research progress on arthritis, multiple sclerosis and immune-related diseases such as autoimmune disease and discussed the relevant mechanisms of action. Dr. Ursula Weiss, Senior Editor of
Nature and Dr. Zoltan Fehervari, Senior Editor of
Nature Immunology introduced the process of how to get published in top international academic journals. The heavyweight guest speakers attracted more than 500 teachers and students from Medical Sciences departments and School of Life Sciences, SYSU and other universities. The audience response was enthusiastic.
