Recently, the Department of General Administration of the Ministry of Health announced the result of the third batch of national key clinical specialties construction projects review. A total of 13 specialties of SYSU affiliated hospitals are designated as national key clinical specialties construction projects. General surgery of The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, The Third Affiliated Hospital and The Sixth Affiliated Hospital are all included in the list, showing the comprehensive strength of SYSU in general surgery.
Since the Ministry of Health initiated the national key clinical specialties review and selection in 2010, 35 specialties of SYSU have been listed in the national key clinical specialties construction projects of the Ministry of Health, and received a total of 170 million yuan special fund. In the previous three batches of national key clinical specialties review, The First Affiliated Hospital has 19 specialties included in the list, the total number ranked among the top in the nation and No. 1 in Guangdong Province.
