On April 24th, The Corporate Culture Cases Analysis Competition, held by the Student Union of Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University in Tsinghua Science Park, Zhuhai has come to its 7th term. Besides Sun Yat-sen University, the competition had attracted 9 more prominent Universities not only from Guangdong Province, but also from Hong Kong and Macao. They are South China University of Technology, South China Normal University, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Jinan University, University of Macau, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University.
The competition was comprised of three parts. The first part was a 12-minute English presentation for competitors to deliver research achievements about corporate culture. The theme of this year’s competition was Reborn and 10 teams were formed based on different corporations, including Guangjun Tourism Vehicle Corporation, P&G (China) Corporation Limited, JIANLIBAO Corporation Limited and so on, to demonstrate how corporate culture helps these enterprises survive in the financial tsunami. The second part was opposing questioning in Chinese, in which 10 teams were divided into five groups and each team raised 2 questions against the other team. In this part, competitors’ reaction and analysis competent left great impression on judges and audience. After the first two parts, five teams from Sun Yat-sen University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, South China University of Technology, South China Agricultural University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong successfully made it to the final round, scenario simulation. Each team analyzed the cases facing a certain culture problem in two minutes. “It’s very hard for school students to tackle this kind of problems since students don’t have some related experience in managing the company. However, all five teams are able to grasp the crux of the problems and provide some practical solutions.” Said Wen Zhiming the judge from Ruiyuan Management Consultant Company after the secenario simulation came to an end.
Finally, the team Sixers from Sun Yat-sen University stood out and got the championship. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology also won the judges’ praises and got the second prize. South China University of Technology came in the third. “It’s a fantastic academic feast.” An audience said after the competition was over.
