The national final of the 13th KPMG Corporate Culture Case Analysis Competition was held in Southern Software Park, Zhuhai on April 24, 2016. The competition was cohosted by Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University, SYSU Youth Association, and Zhuhai Enterprise Culture Association, and was organized by the Student Union of Lingnan College on Zhuhai Campus.
The theme of this year’s competition is “Balance
· Eternity”, which implies balancing the development of corporations in complicated economic situations and thus realizing sustainable development. 16 universities took part in the national final, namely Xiamen University, University of Science and Technology of China, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Renmin University of China, University of International Business and Economics, South China University of Technology, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Jinan University, Lingnan University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and Technology, and Sun Yat-sen University. These teams competed against each other and displayed to the audience an amazing academic contest.
Opposing Questioning
The final consisted of three parts: English presentation, opposing questioning and situation simulation. By analysing corporate culture from various perspectives, the participants perfectly interpreted the given theme. With focus on corporate culture, each team demonstrated strong quantitative analysis skills, outstanding reasoning ability and perfect teamwork. Prof. Niu Baozhuang of South China University of Technology commented that the competition was an enjoyable feast and made an analogy between the participants’ performance and delicacies. Prof. Niu encouraged the students to develop core competitive advantages with the trait of “assuming boldly but testifying carefully”.
After fierce competition, the Enduring team from Sun Yat-sen University won the champion. The DeeperDreamer team from University of Science and Technology of China was the runner-up, and The Mandarin Debate team of The Chinese University of Hong Kong was the second runner-up. Chen Jiaxin, a member of The Mandarin Debate team of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, won the honor of “Best Contestant”.
