From December 2nd to 4th, 2015, the International Symposium on Severe Accidents Simulation and Experiments for Nuclear Power Plants was held by IFCEN (Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology) and CNPRI (China Nuclear Power Technology Research Institute) at Sun Yat-sen University’s Zhuhai Campus.
The Chinese Dean of IFCEN Professor WANG Biao and the French Dean Mr. BOURGEOIS-DEMERSAY delivered their speeches at the opening ceremony on December 3rd. First, Professor WANG Biao expressed his sincere welcome and thanks to the experts and scholars coming to Zhuhai to participate in the symposium from all over the world. He reviewed the history of IFCEN and introduced IFCEN's scientific research, faculty and development. He also delivered his thanks for the support of the Chinese and French government as well as the five French engineer schools. After that, Mr. BOURGEOIS-DEMERSAY introduced the school system and the characteristics of IFCEN.
International Symposium on Severe Accidents Simulation and Experiments for Nuclear Power Plants
More than 20 experts and scholars from the United States, Germany, France, Japan, and domestic research institutions specialized in serious accidents research gave a speech at the symposium. Over 70 scholars in relative research fields exchanged their research achievements on simulation and experiment techniques in the severe accidents, which has further enhanced mutual exchanges and promoted mutual cooperation.
The experts and scholars visit the teaching facilities and research laboratories of IFCEN.
The symposium was successfully closed on December 4th. After the symposium, the experts and scholars visited the Zhuhai Campus as well as the teaching facilities and research laboratories of IFCEN, and observed some courses.
